Blogs to Watch

I am easily distracted. I can read one page of a scientific paper, or write one paragraph of an essay, and then I have to stop, take a break, and read a blog, or two, or three. Some of these blogs make me laugh, some give me great photography ideas, and others save me tons of money on my car insurance. Actually, they save me tons of money on other things, the husband takes care of the car insurance.

Here are some of my favorite blogs that are constantly distracting me from my very important work :) Go check them out, have a laugh, get good advice, and save some hard earned cash.

The Pioneer Woman:
If you haven't checked this blog out, then get off your hiney and get over there. Ree is hilarious plus she knows how to take a picture. She has a huge following, and I can see why. Her blog is split into four sections.

In the Confessions section she talks about her kids, her hansom Marlboro Man husband, and the everyday workings of the ranch she lives on. She runs regular contests to win awesome prizes and she has a continuing story about how she ended up at a ranch after going to college in LA.

The cooking section has recipes of some good "down home" style food with some fancy stuff thrown in every now and then. If you want to know how to cook a steak, or want the recipe for the best chocolate pie ever, then you need to check out her recipes right away. The best thing about it is that she takes pictures at every step of the recipe and adds her touch of humor.

Photography is this girls passion, and since it is mine too I am so happy I found her. She has some guest posters every now and then, and between them all they give some pretty good advice. You can learn everything from how to take good pictures, what equipment to use, and how to step your photos up a notch in post processing. Plus, she has some pretty cool Photoshop Actions that you can download for free. If you fall in love with one of her photos you can also download a selection of them for free.

Remodeling their families lodge house is the most common thread in her home and garden section. Since we are remodeling our house I love to check in and see how things are going with hers. Give her some advise, she craves it.

Overall, this is a fun, entertaining way to take a break from your day. Be careful, though, if you start reading through the archives you may never stop.

I love saving money, who doesn't? So, when I found this blog I was in heaven. Although some of the deals here are geared to mothers and children, there are plenty of deals for us childless adults as well. When the hubby and I bought all our new floors at Lowe's, plus a bunch of other random things, we would have never known we could get $300 in gift cards if it wasn't for this website. Plus, I just bought 13 new makeup items for only $13 dollars with some of her coupon codes, and what girl couldn't use more makeup (even though I never wear it). If you like eating out you will love her restaurant.com codes. Plus, Friday's she gives you the low down on all of the Amazon deals. This site is definitely worth checking out every morning for all of the new deals.
