Alligator Land

I'm not afraid of creepy crawly things. I can pick up a spider with my hands and move him outside (although, I do prefer to use a cup or something to catch him). I used to play with snakes when I was little. My brother, sister and I would catch frogs behind my grandma's house to enter into the frog jumping contest at the fair. None of those things phase me. So, we went to Alligator Adventures in Myrtle Beach to pet the alligators. Aren't they cute :)

One of these things is not like the other. Apparently, alligators don't eat turtles, who knew.

I pet this guy. I had to tackle some kids to get to him, but they lived.

There were snakes and frogs there too, but I am sad to say I didn't get to hold any of them.

Look at that tongue. Or not, if your too scared he'll come out of the screen and eat you :)

Fly Away Home

I saved a moth from certain drowning death. He doesn't look so good here, but he was doing much better when I left him. Let's just say he survived to go home to his happy family. If you believe otherwise, please do not let me know.

Day 2: Snokeling and Scuba Diving

When we got to Akumal it was getting close to dark. We rushed to put on our snorkel gear and get out into the water before dark. We made it, but didn't see too much.



Day 2 we found a turtle. Akumal is known as the land of the turtles. They are so cute I just want to give it a big hug. We didn't, though, don't worry :)




We had no idea that just past the turtle grass there was a giant reef system. If you ever make it to Akumal, don't stop at the grass, keep on going out. There are a ton of fish and coral just waiting to be watched. I heard a rumor that this reef system, which runs down the coast from Cancun, is the second largest in the world (second to the Great Barrier Reef).


In the afternoon we went on our one and only reef dive. Apparently, I float, which meant I had a really hard time sinking. It also meant that I need more weights next time. We saw a giant turtle and a sting ray. Of course, there were a ton of colorful fish and coral. This dive went down to about 45 feet.
