Odd Shot Monday

The answer to last weeks picture is: muffleheads on a tree. Muffleheads usually appear this time of year, and there are good years and bad years. This year was a bad year. Muffleheads covered everything, and if you dare try to move they would swarm you. They don't bite or do anything else. I'm not sure what their purpose in life is, besides being annoying.

This week:

take a guess, what is it?

At first glance I thought it was a berry pie but then I enlarged it and it looks like something awful from inside a fish, etc. YUK!

Is this some kind of fungus? Toffe crust? Glazed something-or-other?

I'd never heard of muffleheads so I Wiki-ed them. Although they don't do anything, their sheer numbers sound disgusting!
